That's got me puzzled........

Is it something to with svegliarsi? the reflexive form of the verb? Reflexives sometimes have different rules. Volute is a feminine ending and we are specifically told that in this case, ci=f. Why would they mention that?  Just saying. That's all I've got!

Hi Phil

The participle volute agrees with the preceding direct object pronoun vi.
In the 1st and 2nd person (mi, ti, ci, vi), agreement is optional.
Hence the two possibilities:

no, non vi abbiamo voluto svegliare
no, non vi abbiamo volute svegliare
